House collapses in Siberia, annihilating floods of 1998 in Bangladesh and islands in the Sunderbans consumed last year, killer Canberra forest firestorm of 2003 triggered by drought, countless famines in Africa in the past decade, New Orleans virtually going underwater in 2005... it’s all too much and too close in time to make for mere coincidence. Closer home, even Mumbai’s killer floods two years back come under the magnifier.
