While I do consider the clamour over the subject could have been done without, in entirety, there are graver concerns at large that have once again been brought glaringly to the fore with the latest furore. As is the unfortunate case in our country, the politics of religion consistently refuses to desist from the almost inherent inclination of rearing their head at the slightest of opportunities, a habit that often becomes synonymous with outlandishness. So, when the Ministry of Culture marked a request to the HRD Ministry for commemorating hundred years of the national song, Arjun Singh promptly decreed that it be recited in schools across the country.
