SBI has bagged
two prestigious technology awards (the Core Banking Solution Award and Outsourcing Project of the Year Award) from The Banker Magazine in 2005. As part of its overseas forays, SBI has acquired majority stakes in banks in Mauritius Kenya and Indonesia. It further ha 70 overseas branches across Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, UK, Canada, USA and China. Now, with Purwar out of the hot-seat, whether O. P. Bhatt, the new Chairman, will be able to sustain the momentum, is a question that even hardened analysts refuse to answer...
